Platinum #9 - Fallout 3

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 7/10

At first glance, this seems like quite an innocuous list. It is heavily loaded with progression based trophies, all awarded for beating various quests throughout the main story arc and selected side quests across the game.

These trophies alone make up almost half of the games entire list, which is more than a generous amount, and mean that your main focus of this Platinum is just simply about naturally going through the games quests and unlocking the trophies as you go along.

This turns out to be convenient enough for the rest of the list too, with a small variety of trophies offered for performing certain actions a number of times, which you're bound to do as you play through the quests anyway. Killing enemies, discovering locations and picking locks are all included within the list, and end up going nicely hand in hand with the quest related trophies.
The only real complexities of this list start to creep in with the Karma related trophies, which are granted at 3 points during the levelling process and depending on your moral alignment at said given points. (Good, Neutral and Bad).

In theory, they are designed to encourage multiple playthroughs of the game, but it is just far too long to play through the entire game in full 3 whole times and reach level 20 on three separate occasions.

Thankfully, there is a remedy for those who may wish to take a short-cut, as you can use some save game trickery and keep spare save files in order to reload and unlock each of the 9 trophies for every type of karma just as you're about to hit the relevant level point. As long as you're aware of this, you should be OK, but if you miss any at all, you can expect to be playing through the game more than once, which will hugely prolong the estimated Platinum time.

There are a small pinch of collectible based trophies too, with the "Vault-Tec C.E.O" trophy, awarded for collecting 20 Vault-Tec bobbleheads, proving to be a tough scavenger hunt. The bobbleheads are scattered around the wasteland, often deep in caves in dungeons, and some of them can take hours of questing to get to. Some of them are easy to grab, but you can still expect a slight time sink to nab all 20 of them.

All in all, despite being a very straight forward and linear list, it is still quite a time consuming one too. You can expect at least a 60 hour venture to unlock every trophy, courtesy of the amount of quests you'll have to beat, coupled with some long winded collectibles.

However, simply playing through the game naturally will see you unlock the vast majority of the trophies, and you'll only really find yourself deviating from this path for certain collectibles and the last few locks to pick or terminals to hack. If you can get over the hefty time commitment, this is quite a relaxed Platinum.
