Platinum #23 - Resistance 2

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 10/10
Despite being a fairly mid-sized list, this Platinum is a true definition of tough, with a host of gruelling trophies that make it a solid Platinum to achieve.

Beginning with the easier stuff, there are a bunch of trophies tied to obtaining a certain number of kills with the games various weapons within the Single player campaign (which is more or less what the single player trophies are made up of), and anything that's initially missed off can be farmed through checkpoints anyway, which makes any post-game clean up alot easier to manage.

Nothing in the single-player will give you too much of a problem. Aside the previously mentioned kill-based trophies, there are also a bunch of progression-based trophies awarded for beating the games various bosses and collecting intelligence, which are one of the easiest collectibles in any game.

The "OMGWTFBBQ" trophy, awared for completing the Single Player campaign on Superhuman difficulty, doesn't exactly live up to the tag, but it is important to note that you do also need to unlock Superhuman difficulty by beating the game once previously, so a minimum of 2 playthroughs is required regardless, which means you're still easily looking at around 25-30 hours to beat everything the Single player has to offer.

The toughest area of this list comes exclusively from the Competitve and Co-operative Multi-player portions of the game.

Regarding the competitive Multi-player, the "Killing Machine" trophy, awarded for scoring 10,000 kills in ranked matches, is where the main focus of this whole list lies. It will set you back anywhere between 80-100 hours alone, and is no small feat, particularly when you consider how small some of the game modes can be. It's most likely the sole trophy that will turn a lot of people off achieving the Platinum, and you simply won't just rack up 10,000 kills without a heavy dose of hard work and dedication.

The best modes for accumulating kills are standard deathmatches, but games are often over relatively quickly, due to the high player count that deathmatches can support. It can break momentum often, but a good match can easily see you rack up 25-35 kills, possibly slightly more on the odd occasion.

There was a time where I did eventually get bored, at which point it was all about the willpower to grind out the remaining few thousand kills, but the reward was well worth it in the end.

The "Point Man" trophy, for earning 1 Million XP from ranked games, also takes up a considerable amount of time, but this, along with the rest of the Multi-Player trophies (of which there aren't many of anyway), are irrelevant in the context of achieving the 10,000 kills required, since you'll hit 1 Million XP way before that milestone anyway.

Not to be outdone, the Co-operative modes also show up their fair share of gruelling trophies too, including the "Specter Intel" trophy, awarded for collecting all intel in the co-operative campaign. Each of the 6 maps in the Co-operative campaign have to be beaten a series of times in order to unlock a piece of intel, and with a collective total of 61 pieces to unlock, you're looking at somewhere in the region of 50 hours to unlock this trophy, and that's disregarding the missions you will inevitably fail along the way, given how tough some of them can be, so you could be looking at a higher completion time depending on success rates.

The "Specter Officer" trophy, awarded for reaching max level with one class, is also nothing but a sheer levelling grind, but as long as you stick to one class throughout every co-op mission, you should grab this one before you manage to obtain the 61 pieces of intel needed for the previous trophy.

The "Team Player" trophy, awarded for completing 5 missions with a full party of 8, is self explanatory, but will require some foresight and co-ordinated planning. This is mainly due to the fact you need to play through the entire mission with 8 people, and the reliance on random players is too great for 8 people, due to drop-outs and quitters, so this trophy is best tackled with a committed group of players who all have the same aim.

Overall, this is an extremely time consuming Platinum, well within the region of 250+ hours. The sheer amount of time and willpower required for this list means that only the seriously dedicated will have this one in their collection, and it ends up being a real test of determination. Despite there being a variety of grindy trophies, the main difficulty comes down to the 3 golds in the list, all of which are the pinnacle of each of the games 3 modes. To say this list is tough is a complete understatement, and it makes this game one of the toughest Platinums available in any game.
