Platinum #25 - Ratchet and Clank : A Crack in Time

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 5/10
For the most part, this game has a fairly relaxing set of trophies, with almost half of the entire list being distributed to progression based trophies for reaching certain points in the story.

There are also 4 stackable difficulty related trophies too, meaning if you play through the game on Hard mode the first time round, then you will unlock over half of the whole games list simply through playing the game from beginning to end.

The "Q-Force Champion", awarded for beating the game on hard, should, on paper, be the toughest trophy in this list, but it doesn't really come close to presenting a reasonable challenge against it's name. Some areas are tough, though is mostly down to boss fights, but there's nothing a bit of perseverance won't push you through, and you can easily beat this game within 8-10 hours, even on the hardest difficulty.

The most challenging aspect of the game presents itself from the "Bolt Collector" trophy, awarded for collecting all Gold Bolts. These are scattered around in various hidden places around the game world, but the Clank time shifting puzzles also award a fair chunk of them too, and some of these puzzles are incredibly difficult and will take some time to solve in many instances.

On a related note, there is a pretty large emphasis on collecting amongst the remainder of the trophies. The "Gunsmith" trophy, awarded for collecting all Constructo modifications, is probably the toughest of the collectible related trophies, requiring you to unlock schematics for the purpose of upgrading weapons that are hidden on the various planets around the universe. The biggest issue is the fact that you aren't actually told where the schematics are unless you beat the Raritarium arena challenge, at which point you're given a treasure map as award which revals the exact locations of the modifications.

Even with the map, some of them are still quite challenging to find out how to obtain, even after you've managed to pin-point the exact location of them, and in some cases you may need a certain piece of equipment in order to reach the modification which you might not even have obtained yourself yet. It makes things a little bit frustrating, so it might be best to do this trophy after you've beating and unlocked everything first.

The "Zoni Collector" trophy, awarded for rescuing all Zoni, isn't as demanding as the Gunsmith trophy, but you'll need to collect the Zoni as soon as possible, since they upgrade your ship and give you access to further away planets, which is important for completing side missions and collecting schematics, and therefore progressing through the trophy list.

The "Thrifty" trophy, awarded for collecting 1,000,000 bolts is simply a steady accumulation mission, and even though it seems like a pretty big figure to hit, you should be able to manage it within a single playthrough, so it isn't actually as grindy as it might sound.

The "Glutton for Punishment" trophy, awarded for completing a challenge mode playthrough, ensures you'll have to go through the game at least twice if you want the Platinum, as challenge mode is only unlocked after you've beaten the game under normal circumstances. Challenge mode is easy, simply for the reason you get to carry all your bolts, equipment and upgrades, meaning you can literally walk through the game. You only need to beat the main story arc too, which should take no longer than 4-5 hours, even less if you opt to speedrun, which is very plausible given how strong your arsenal should be.

Overall, this an easy list. It's absolutely packed with progression based trophies, and even beating the game on the hardest difficulty is one of the easiest "hard" modes you'll ever play through. The clank puzzles in aid of collecting all the gold bolts do present a legitimately tough challenge without the aid of help, and the collection aspect is fairly heavy, but just a matter of jumping around the game and knowing where to go.

Even though you do still need to beat the game twice as a minimum, you can clock this Platinum well within 25 hours, especially if you opt to rush through the challenge mode, something which easily be done in 2-3 hours.
