DLC #5 - FIFA 09 Ultimate Team

Create the Ultimate Team
The debut of the Ultimate Team game mode packs 10 additional trophies into the FIFA 09 list, all catered towards both the collecting and playing side of the Ultimate Team mode.

This package has a very mixed bag of tasks, including some extremely run of the mill, procedural trophies, along with some much more challenging trophies that will require a hefty time investment and a considerable level of FIFA skill.

It is mostly the former that make up this bunch of trophies, with a host of tasks including opening a silver and gold pack, winning your first trophy in both the Multiplayer and Single Player tournament modes and collecting Gold standard players through packs or market investment.

All of these trophies will come naturally as you progress through the 2 more difficult trophies in the package;

Club Tournament Mastery - Ultimate Team : Win all gold club Tournaments
Online Tournament Mastery - Ultimate Team : Win all gold online Tournaments
The "Club Tournament Mastery" trophy relates to the Single Player portion of the DLC, and winning all of the gold club tournaments, and fulfilling the requirements of the trophy, will require you to win a total of 18 tournaments. There are 6 tiers of tournaments, all starting on the bronze level, and winning a certain tournament will unlock it's silver tier, and then the gold tier, which equates to 6 tournaments with 3 tiers each.

Playing against the computer isn't at all difficult, just a touch tedious and, given the fact you'll need to play 4 knockout matches to win a tournament, you're looking at a minimum of 72 matches in order to beat every tournament and unlock the trophy. There may be a few instances where you lose the odd match and have to restart, which would slightly heighten that number, but the computer doesn't tend to throw up a great challenge, and the rigid style of play makes it a little  bit grindy.

The "Online Tournament Mastery" trophy follows the exact same mould, with the only difference requiring the tournament wins in the Multiplayer portion of the game. Naturally, it is a much more competitive environment to win matches in, and even though the minimum amount of wins required is exactly same as the Single Player counterpart, you're bound to play way more matches as a result of competing against other players whose teams will vary in quality.

It is the much more difficult trophy out of the 2 as a result, and even more time consuming too. It's difficult to say how many matches it will take to win all 18 tournaments, but chances are, it will be way more than the minimum of 72 matches like the Single Player equivalent, and you will need to build up a decent squad to compete at the Gold level tournaments, which will be full of good players with strong teams.

You'll also need to be prepared to retry certain tournaments multiple times over too, with a straight knockout format for each competition in place, it's very easy to have a bad game and get knocked out, so just be open to the notion of perseverance.

It's difficult to nail down a time estimate, because the "Online Tournament Mastery" trophy will stretch the completion time to a very wide scale, but it is a difficult package, and even the most minimal of time-scales will still see you plug in a wealth of hours into this list. The Multiplayer tournaments are naturally tougher than the Single Player ones, but with a bit of determination and attention to detail in building the best squad, you will get there eventually.
