Platinum #6 - Resident Evil 5

Trophy Difficulty Rating - 8/10

Despite almost half of the list being entirely progression based through beating the various acts and chapters in the game, this is still a tough Platinum to achieve. The "War Hero" trophy, for completing all chapters on Professional, is the main focus of this list. However,  you will need to beat the game on Veteran difficulty first, in order to unlock Professional difficulty, meaning this list does demand at least 2 playthroughs, despite the fact the various difficulty trophies do stack.

It is actually possible to play through the game once on Professional with a co-op partner who already has the mode unlocked, and still earn the War Hero trophy, but the game can be very tough in places, and some chapters throughout the story will require alot of patience, and possibly previous experience of the game on a lower difficulty, until you find it manageable enough to beat.

Although it isn't obviously evident from the list, it is also definitely important to point out, in regards to the "They're ACTION figures" trophy, for collecting all figurines, one of the figurines in the set requires you to S-Rank every chapter, and even though this doesn't have to be done on a specific difficulty, it can still be quite hard to achieve the S-Rank requirements for certain chapters in the game. The criteria can be quite strict at times, especially regarding stage completion times, accuracy and the number of deaths allowed within the Chapter, and some of the chapters will almost certainly require multiple replays to finish off with an S-Rank, such is the challenge of achieving an S-Rank for every level, which definitely props up the difficulty rating in general.

The "Badge of Honour" trophy, awarded for collecting all BSAA emblems, contributes to the collectible side of the list, but all 30 emblems are relatively trouble free, and you'll have multiple chances to grab them as you go through everything else towards the Platinum anyway. This does also link into the "All Dressed Up" trophy, for purchasing all alternative costumes in bonus features, with the Sheva Tribal costume requiring all 30 emblems to be collected before you can unlock and purchase it.

The "They Belong in a Museum" trophy, for obtaining all treasures in the game, is slightly more arduous, with 50 treasures in total to gather, scattered around the chapters in various locations, or dropped by certain key enemies. You'll most likely need a guide for most of the collectibles in the game anyway, which makes them a bit of a headache to keep track of, but given the fact you'll most likely play through the game a few times at least, it lends itself nicely to focus on one set of collectibles in one playthrough, and then the other set on another.

Aside from the general difficulty of the game, the "Take it to the Max" trophy, for completely upgrading all weapons, fulfils a hefty grind element to the Platinum, requiring that you amass enough money to be able to purchase and fully upgrade every weapon in the whole game. Some of them are quick to upgrade, and some of them take alot longer, and you'll most likely end up farming through the same chapters over and over (the most lucrative), in order to build up enough money to eventually upgrade everything. It takes a long time, and will see you playing beyond the real end-game.

The more relaxed portions of the list contain a plethora of progression based trophies attached to beating every chapter in the game, killing enemies with a variety of weapons and methods and partner interaction.

There's a little bit of everything in this Platinum on the whole. It's a real test of skill and determination in places, there's a solid contribution of collectibles based within the list, a generous scattering of progression trophies and there's also a hefty grind too. All in all, you're probably looking at a the larger part of a 50-60 hour Platinum, with a solid test included, and although it is a game that is much better suited to playing through co-operatively, you'll still have your work cut out in achieving everything this list has to offer.
