Platinum #5 - Mirrors Edge

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 9/10

Upon first glance, this might seem like a fairly innocuous trophy list, and for the most part that's actually quite close to the truth.

There is a fairly heavy emphasis on progression, with trophies awarded for beating all 10 chapters, both under regular circumstances and as part of the games Speedrun mode.

This is where the true difficulty of the game starts to creep in. Beating the Speedrun of each chapter can be incredibly testing, with set times that offer no margin of error or mistakes, requiring near flawless runs for the target to be realistically achievable. When you also take into account that some chapters can be fairly long winded too, missing the completion times can quickly turn into a game of determination and persistence, and one that is very tough to overcome.

The "Pro Runner" trophy, for completing the game on hard difficulty, might not seem that tough due to the fact the game isn't exactly full of enemies, but certain sections of the game where they do appear can be borderline impossible to get past at times.

It's also important to note the "Test of Faith" trophy, awarded for completing the game without shooting an enemy, which will almost certainly require a dedicated play-through, simply for the reason that it would be way too difficult to beat the game on the hardest difficulty setting and go for this trophy at the same time.

Away from the story, the time trial maintains the games steep challenge. The "Still Counting" trophy, for attaining a time trial rating of 50, requires you to earn 50 stars across a variety of time trials. This will require a 3 star rating on most of the trials, which can just be as difficult as the Speedruns in some instances, and as with said Speedruns, there's bound to be alot of trial and error in the effort for flawless runs in order to hit the target times for all 50 stars.

The easier stuff within the list comes from a variety of trophies relating to performing certain actions by chaining together button presses and some collectibles do also make an appearence, with the "Packrat" trophy awarded for collecting all 30 hidden bags. All of those trophies can be attained at any point using the chapter select option, which makes them the more relaxing trophies contained with the list.

Overall, the challenge presented from this list is a stern one. The amount of skill and determination needed, particularly for the Speedruns and Time Trials, is set at a very high standard, and you'll encounter much frustration and spend alot of time perfecting runs in order to hit target times and achieve all the trophies attached to the games various modes.

If you can manage all of this, and have the determination and patience to stick in alot of trial and error, then you've achieved a very credible Platinum.

Notable Trophies -

Pro Runner - Complete story mode on hard difficulty
Test of Faith - Complete the game without shooting an enemy
Still Counting - Attain a Time Trial star rating of 50
Hardest Trophy -

Chapter 2 Speedrun
Complete a Speedrun of Chapter 2 below the target time. (Bronze)

Side Note : You could have picked a handful of trophies relating to the Speedruns, as they all provide stern challenges in their own respect, but 2 is the longest and most frustrating to achieve.
